Cookie Policy

Last updated: June 12, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Intelligent Insights ("we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website. Please read it alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information.

In addition to traditional cookies set by the server, we also use localStorage — a browser-based storage mechanism that works similarly to persistent cookies but is never automatically sent to the server. We use localStorage to remember your preferences (such as dark/light mode) and your cookie consent decision.

Cookies can be "session cookies" (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent cookies" (which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them).

2. How We Use Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

Essential Always active

These cookies are necessary for the website to function. They enable core functionality such as authentication, session management, and storing your preferences. The website cannot function properly without them — they cannot be switched off.

Analytics No cookies, no consent needed

To understand how our site is used, we run Umami — a privacy-friendly, self-hosted analytics tool. It counts page views and traffic sources without setting any cookies and without collecting personal data (no IP addresses, no cross-site tracking). Because it stores nothing on your device and cannot identify you, it requires no consent.

3. Cookies We Set

The table below lists every cookie and localStorage item in use on our website. All of them are essential — we do not set any analytics or marketing cookies.

Name Category Purpose Duration
theme Essential Remembers your dark/light mode preference so it persists across visits. Persistent (localStorage)
cookie_consent Essential Records your cookie consent decision (accepted or declined) to avoid showing the banner again. Persistent (localStorage)
sb-* Essential Supabase authentication session token. Keeps you logged in while using the platform. Session / 1 hour

Items marked "Persistent (localStorage)" are stored in your browser's localStorage, not as traditional HTTP cookies. Our analytics provider, Umami, sets no cookies at all and so does not appear in this table.

4. How Long Do Cookies Last?

Session cookies

Session cookies are temporary. They exist only while your browser is open and are deleted automatically when you close it. They are used to carry information from one page to another (for example, keeping you logged in during a visit).

Persistent cookies

Persistent cookies remain on your device for a period defined in the cookie's expiry date. They are reactivated each time you visit the website that set the cookie. Persistent cookies expire between 24 hours and 2 years depending on their purpose.

localStorage items

Items stored in localStorage (such as your theme preference and consent decision) have no automatic expiry date. They persist until you clear your browser data, use your browser's developer tools to remove them, or until we explicitly remove them via our code.

5. Third-Party Services

Some functionality on our website relies on third-party services. Where these services store data on your device, we do not control it and it is governed by the privacy policies of the respective third parties.

Third-party services we use:

  • Umami — privacy-friendly, cookieless website analytics that we self-host. It sets no cookies and collects no personal data (no IP addresses or cross-site tracking), so it requires no consent. See the Umami privacy documentation.
  • Supabase — authentication and session management (essential, cannot be disabled). See Supabase’s Privacy Policy.

6. Managing and Deleting Cookies

What "Decline" means in practice

If you click Decline, your decision is saved and the banner will not reappear. We only use essential cookies and localStorage items (authentication, theme preference, and your consent record), which keep the site working and are not affected by your choice. We do not currently load any optional analytics or marketing cookies, so declining and accepting produce exactly the same browsing experience today. Your choice is recorded so that, were we ever to introduce optional cookies, they would only load if you had chosen "Accept all".

Withdrawing your consent

If you previously clicked "Accept all" and wish to withdraw consent — or if you declined and wish to change your mind — you can reset your choice by clearing the cookie_consent key from your browser's localStorage. The consent banner will reappear on your next visit. To do this:

  1. Open your browser's Developer Tools (usually F12 or right-click → Inspect)
  2. Go to the Application tab (Chrome/Edge) or Storage tab (Firefox)
  3. Select Local Storage and find this website's entry
  4. Delete the cookie_consent key

Browser cookie settings

You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to view, manage, block, and delete cookies. Note that blocking essential cookies may impair authentication and site functionality.

  • Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Apple Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
